My name is Šhema, real name is Shema Hervé BANYANGIRIKI. I was born in Kigali (Rwanda) on April 9, 1996. I'm a self-taught, multi-faceted illustrator with a strong passion for visual arts.
I started drawing in my school notebook, sketching human faces and sounds, until it became a real hobby. From graffiti on paper to portraits and oil painting, I perfected my drawing skills.
At 13 years, I won the winning contest for the U.S. Embassy Awards Best Posters for Aids Day.
I continued to draw as an amateur up to 2020's when I was in quest of my artistic identity.
I stand out for my ability to explore spaces of limitless possibilities, creating an artistic world that transcends convention and offers a refreshing perspective on the power of imagination.
My conceptual art shatters the existing state of societal norms without necessarily judging, denying or opposing them, but rather transcending them to create a space where reflection and exploration are encouraged.
Artistic process:
Every artistic work created by Šhema begins with an artistic idea. The artistic idea he envisions is a guideline for everything.
It is transcribed in the form of a text describing the work explicitly, detailing its spatio-temporal aspect, in order to illustrate the message to be conveyed. These texts are part of the artanatomy.
From then on, he gives concrete form to his ideas by illustrating on different media, following the thought process that determines the appearance of the work in question.
Materials:
Šhema can draw with a variety of drawing materials: graphite pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, but also, and more often, on a digital graphic tablet.
Artistic influences:
Michel Basquiat, Vincent Van Gogh & Michelangelo are Šhema's two greatest inspirations; through their talent, their style, their power to describe reality as well as the message in their works.

Šhema's conceptual art universe
In Šhema's conceptual art, imagination is the driving force.
His creations transport the viewer into unexplored worlds, where the absurd and the rational meet to create a unique visual and intellectual experience. Šhema's art is an invitation to push back the boundaries of thought, to explore the unknown, and to discover new perspectives.
Each work is a journey into the mind of the artist, a journey that allows the viewer to
explore his or her own limits and venture into uncharted territory.
The message
