Graphartixry is the combination of two words: "Graphics" which means, according to dictionary.com, "a graphic arts product such as a drawing or print" and "Artistry" (turned as "Artixry") which means "a creative skill or ability". Graphartixry can be defined as a creative ability to produce graphic art by making marks and lines on any surface (paper, digital tablet, etc.), using a pen, pencil or other drawing tool.
Graphartixry is a brand that showcases Šhema's art, which includes not only illustrations but also his ideas, concepts, thoughts, creations, inventions or any other form of artistic expression that falls within his artist's catalog. It's a platform and a means of expression for his reflections on the world.
As for him, he's a self-taught draughtsman, graphic artist, painter and so on. He is a multi-faceted artist, producing a wide range of drawings, from the realistic to the symbolic and the expressive. He uses drawing paper and pencil and digital tablet and pen for the most part. From graffiti on paper to portraits and oil paintings, he has evolved and honed his skills to get to where he is today.
Drawing for Šhema began in his school book, where he would draw human heads and noises, until it became a real hobby.
Graphartixry as a brand represents the use of imagination without limits to create spaces with unlimited possibilities. It is synonymous with creativity, inventiveness and expression, and tends to break with the existing state of societal norms without judging, denying or having to oppose everything around it.
Even if they don't have the same subject or are not inspired by the same ideas, Šhema's works have something in common. They are all the result of real reflection and aim to highlight a certain message.
Nothing illustrated is the result of chance. That's why he has grouped them together under one banner, so that he can give art a certain direction and a life among so many others. But also, from a branding and business point of view, it makes sense. It's easier to understand.
The brand started out as Pieces & Graphartixry, Pieces being another word for "works of art". It could also mean "a piece of the puzzle", meaning that each work of art is a piece of its own artistic puzzle.
Šhema, real name Shema Hervé BANYANGIRIKI, born in Kigali (Rwanda) on April 9, 1996, is a self-taught, multi-faceted illustrator with a strong passion for the visual arts.
From graffiti on paper to portraits and oil painting, he has perfected his drawings. Every chance he got, he practiced what he would later spend all day doing.
Living in the Paris region, he explores and creates the conceptual art that is his favorite. In this movement, his artistic ideas aim to define the aesthetic aspect that guides the judgement linked to perception, to the expression of oneself.
Every artistic work created by Šhema begins with an artistic idea. This artistic idea is a guideline for every movement the arm makes while holding a pencil, pen or stylus.
This idea is transcribed in the form of a text describing the work explicitly, detailing its spatio-temporal aspect, in order to illustrate the message to be conveyed. These texts are part of the artanatomy.
From then on, he gives concrete form to his ideas by illustrating on different media, following the thought process that determines the appearance of the work in question.
Šhema can draw with a variety of drawing materials: graphite pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, but also, and more often, on a digital graphic tablet.
Michel Basquiat, Vincent Van Gogh & Michelangelo are Šhema's two greatest inspirations; through their talent, their style, their power to describe reality as well as the message in their works.
Some giclée Posters sold on graphartixry.com are accompanied by a COA (Certificate of Authenticity) which confirms the authenticity of the artwork concerned.
The Certificate of Authenticity specifies Šhema as the artist, the title of the work, the edition number, the size, the medium which is the type of paper used for the poster/print, the production date, a unique certificate number generated by the print supplier, Šhema's signature and the Graphartixry logo.
For other products, a packing slip accompanies the product. It includes the packing slip number, shipping date and address, return address and a personalized message of dedication from the customer.
